Thinking about buying a new appliance?
With all of the choices out there now, there are so many factors to consider when making a big purchase such as an appliance. In our experience, there are definitely some brands that have proven to have fewer malfunctions than others.
Whether you are looking to add an upgrade to your home or just replace an old or broken appliance, we can all agree that endurance is one of, if not the most important factor. After all, this is an investment and it should hold up in the long run.
We have put together a few recommendations when summing down the choices for your new appliance.
1- The latest is not always greatest.
Sometimes the phrase “less is more” hits the nail right on the head. With technology growing and surprising us every year, it is safe to expect the most out of our new and improved gadgets. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Though all of the new features being implemented lately seem like the smart choice to make, sometimes sticking with a simpler model is recommended. In our opinion, the following brands have shown to hold up better with their older models versus their newer upgraded ones.
-Whirlpool, Kenmore, Roper, and Maytag.
Now, we are NOT saying avoid these brands at all costs! We have simply found that many of the issues that we deal with from these brands often happen in newer models. If you are considering any of these manufacturers, we recommend you give their older appliances a chance.
2- Expect to have issues.
All hardware malfunctions sooner or later. Whether it is an appliance, a television, a cell phone, a car (you get the idea).
It does not matter if your appliance is brand new or if you have had it for years, everything needs maintenance once in a while.
With that being said, we have found that the following issues seem to be common with these specific appliances and manufacturers.
LG and Kenmore Refrigerators- If you have owned one of these, you most likely than not have had it stop cooling or just stop working completely. In our experience, we have found a failing linear compressor to be the most common issue in LG and Kenmore refrigerators. Unfortunately, this is a bit too common and even when these are replaced, the issue will resurface with the replacement compressors as well.
3- Our recommendations.
We pride ourselves on being an honest company. In situations where the replacement is more cost-effective than the repair, we will let you know!
